Athirapally Waterfalls, Kerala

Athirapally waterfalls is situated in the Thrissur District of Kerala. Kerala is also known as God’s own country. The Chalakudy River which travels through sholayar ranges and drops in Aluva as Athirapally falls is the largest waterfall in Kerala. It is also nicknamed as Niagara of India. The athirapally falls divide into three separate plumes after cascading through rocks.

The Athirapally waterfalls is surrounded with dense forest covered with teak, bamboo, and Eucalyptus. It has a wide range of forest wildlife which includes bison, sambar, leopard, tiger, Asiatic Elephant, and Lion-tailed Macaque. This falls forms the perfect place for Nature lovers filled with natural and wildlife habitat. It also has a very wide range of bird species like hornbills. There are a total of 85 Freshwater species present of which 35 are endemic species.

Having this mesmerizing beauty Athirpally is the best place for film shooting. Many famous Malayalam movies, Bollywood and Tollywood movies have been casted here and one such famous movie is Bahubali.

The Nearest town is Chalakkudi which is at a distance of a meager 33kms. Buses and taxi are available from here. The nearest railway station is the Chalakkudi Railway station. And the nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport which is 55 km away from the place. From the airport, we can hire suitable cabs or taxi to travel.
