Bhortal is also one of the most cherished and loved folk dances of the entire Assamese community. Assam is just like a home to a number of communities which include the Mongoloid, Burmese, Iranian, Aryan, Rabha, Bodo, Kachari, Karbi, Missing, Sonowal Kacharis, Mishimi and Tiwa and so on. It is all these communities that combinedly make up the incredible Assamese community. The person behind the patronage of this folk dance is supposed to be Narahari Burha Bhaka t.Narahari Burha Bhakat was a very seasoned artist of Satriya art. Bhortal folk Dance is one such dance that the locals of Assam enjoy a lot. The Bhortal folk dance is generally performed in groups. Conventionally, five to six members are expected to be there in the group for the Bhortal folk dance.

The intriguing factor about this Bhortal folk dance is that dance is performed on very fast beats of drums. The fast beats of the drum are known as Zhiya Nom. Also, while performing the dance, the dancers are equipped with the cymbals till the show gets over.

Being well equipped with cymbals makes the whole scene even more dramatic, colorful, and eye-catching. Some beautiful colorful patterns are being produced while the dancers showcase the majestic folk art. When the Bhortal folk dance is held fairs are held around the Assam, and there are truly the vibes for celebration which one should really not miss.
