Chottanikkara Temple, Kerala

Chottanikkara Temple is located in Kochi and is the most famous temple dedicated to Goddess Sree Bhagavathi who is the mother of Goddess Lakshmi Devi. People have been visiting this temple to worship Goddess Sree Bhagavathi for years now. It is also said that Goddess Lakshmi Devi and Lord Vishnu also live in this temple along with Goddess Sree Bhagavathi making this temple the most popular one in the state. The Chottanikkara temple is made with wooden sculptures and is surrounded with various idols, paintings, carving, sculptures and other artefacts. It is also said that this temple is known for their worship practices as they conduct various practices for devotees visiting the temple every day.

According to the Hindu calendar, the auspicious days are sorted out according to the Gods and Goddesses to be worshipped and various rituals and practices are conducted. From early morning till late evening various goddesses are worshipped throughout the day. Idols of various goddesses can also be found in this temple, therefore, it is also said that while visiting temple or during a pilgrimage tour, Chottanikkara Temple should be on the list as you will be able to worship multiple gods and goddesses at the same time and you will be able to explore the traditional Kerala culture experience.

Chingam, Vrishchikam, Kanni, Kumbam are a few of the auspicious months when various fests are hosted by the Chottanikkara temple. During this time people from various states and countries visit the temple as rare rituals are practised during this month. All the months have different rituals practised for different gods and heavy rush can be seen during these months or days

Note

Shorts, T-Shirts and Jeans are not allowed inside the temple. Men should wear dhoti with no shirt and Women should wear sari, salwar kameez and churidar.
