Kovalam Beach, Kerala

Kovalam beach, a true place to recreate and relax, is a traveler’s paradise. The place which traces back to the famed hippie era and before holds a keenness of warmth and hospitality not seen before. Located in the Thiruvananthapuram, this beach lays aside by the Arabian Sea.

The beach has three major parts which are divided by the rocky outs. The three beaches are known by as Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach. The Lighthouse Beach is the most frequently visited of the lot and has the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse being located here on top of the Kurumkal hillock. It has plenty of places to visit and oversee. People often resort to Kovalam beach for relaxation and a sigh of breath away from the hectic life schedule and Kovalam exactly offers it if not more. People can visit places like Karamana River, Vellayani Lake, Valiyathura Pier, Neyyar Dam, Halcyon Castle, Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple, etc.

It also hosts plenty of refreshing and recreational takes like seaport of Vizhinjam famed for its fish, big churches, mosque, and old Hindu temples. There’s still that nostalgia of hippie trail in Kovalam but then these days, the Ayurvedic salons and recuperation activities are taking over with all of these available at Kovalam.

The Arabian Sea is not quite as calm as it is used to being, here on the shores of Kovalam Beach. The gentle waves sometimes turn into riptides to give the tourist ample scope to enjoy the water sporting activities here on the beach, like jet skiing, motor boating, surfing, snorkelling and swimming, of course. But if tourists prefer a retreat like enjoyment then sunbathing on the rocky beach and hammocking on the palm tree boulevard are quite refreshing. A trip to Kovalam is truly a sight reckoning.

Kovalam Beach is just an 11 km drive from Thiruvananthapuram. The lighthouse rocky beach is quite the merriment zone for the tourist interesting in beach activities and coastal delicacies.
