Meenmutty falls is a three-tiered waterfall cascading from a height of 1000 feet in Wayanad District, Kerala. There are distinct viewpoints at all three tiers. The word Meenmutty is the combination of two words Meen and Mutty which means Fish and Blocked respectively. These words are of Malayalam origin.
This spectacular fall flows through rocky boulders into the thick forest. The Meenmutty Falls has three separate tiers at different heights. One can reach the first tier by walking half km from the main entrance of the fall. The lower tier is less dangerous with water collecting into a pool which is safe for swimming for people interested. The most breath-taking view is at the peak of the third tier where one can watch the nearby valleys and the beautiful Banasura Sagar Dam. The fall is a magnum opus in the Ooty route in Wayanad.
