Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple, Maharashtra

The Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple was established by Shri Dagadusheth Halwai and his wife Lakshmibai, in the 1800s, when they lost their son due to a plague epidemic. One of the faces of Indian Independence, the celebration of the festival that had continued since then was popularized by Lokmanya Tilak as a scheme of bringing the people of the country together in the freedom struggle.

A trust known as Shreemanta Dagadusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganapati Trust was established in order to continue the celebration in full swing, ever since its first celebration.
