Jaitak Fort, Himachal Pradesh

Located at a distance of 22km. from Nahan, the Jaitak Fort is a historical fort in the Sirmaur District. Perched at an altitude of 1479 km., the Jaitak Fort is a testament to the numerous battles and wars that took place in the area.

It all started in 1810. Gurkha leader Ranjor Singh Thapa ransacked the Nahan Fort, successfully defeating the British and Sirmaur joint army. As the war ended, the Nahan Fort stood testament to the war that occurred around it. And the Jaitak Fort was born from its destroyed remnants. Since then, the Fort stood witness to the numerous other wars and deaths that took place in the 19th century.

One of the prominent aspects of the Jaitak Fort is its soaring altitude. Being perched at such a high altitude, the Fort provides an exquisite birds-eye view of the surrounding scenery.
