Lohagad Fort, Maharashtra

Lohagad fort is a local term for the iron fortress is located very close to Lonavala in Pune of Maharashtra is this quaint hill station known as Lohgad. The prime attraction of this hill station is the Lohagad fort that belonged to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fortress is one of the three forts situated close to each other. Unfortunately, however, the structure that still stands is only but the ruins of the Lohagad Fort. At a height of 3400 ft, this huge fortress is spread far wide. The four entrances of this fort are named as Ganesh Darwaja, Hanuman Darwaja, Maha Darwaja and Narayan Darwaja. On the Maha Darwaja, the tourists can see some delightful sculptures cut out. It is the most well-known tourist spot is Vinchu Kata. These are a range of hills that resemble a Capricorn.

This gorgeous fortress was constructed in the eighteenth century, and indeed has a lot of memorable noteworthiness. The modern day travellers love this place as it is a suitable spot for nature lovers and trekking activities. Lohagad fort has seen various dynasties such as Chalukyas, Yadavas, Rashtrakutas, Bahamanis, Mughals, Marathas and Nizams and it has been a centre of power for all of these dynasties.

The place is covered with lush green natural beauty and displays an all-encompassing perspective of the place. The cool mountain breeze blowing atop the fort and the natural gorgeousness of the place would grip your senses. Lohagad Fort, in itself, is an enormous structure which was under the control of the strong Maratha Empire once. It is also associated with its twin Visapur Fort. The base of the fortress was a long way away from the last point that was connected by means of road, however now a proper road has been constructed.
