Marble Palace, built according to the neo-classical architecture style is one of the most famous tourist attraction sites in Kolkata. This mansion was built in the year 1835 and was built by Raja Rajendra Mullick, who was considered as a rich merchant with a great passion for art. He built the entire mansion with pure marble, the walls, floors, pillars and even the sculptures were built with pure marble. He even used to collect art portraying various cultures and art forms present in India. Even the Jagannath temple built by the adopted father of Raja Rajendra Mullick is located within the vicinity of the Marble Palace; nowadays, it is only accessible to the family members.

The Marble Palace of Kolkata is a three-storied building with multiple large courtyards, a rock garden, a lake and a small zoo. The roof of the mansion was built according to the Chinese pavilion architecture style. Even the traditional Bengali housing style was adopted while designing the house as they wanted to maintain the ethnicity while adopting various housing architecture style.

Raja Rajendra Mullick used to collect art from various countries and used to showcase it to others in his house. Some of his collections include paintings by the Indian and the European artists, sculptures from the western countries, Victorian furniture, Enormous chandeliers, clocks, urns and other artefacts from across the globe were collected by him. All these artefacts are still present in the Marble Palace where the Mullick family still resides and this mansion is also open to the public.
