The Rudrasagar lake, also known as Rudijala is located in a beautiful town in Tripura named Melaghar of Sipahijala district. The Rudrasagar lake is around 52 km from Agartala which is the capital of Tripura. This lake is one of the best places for recreation and tourism and every year on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami a major festival is celebrated here which is known as Neermahal.
This festival becomes the host for many people from various states who take part in multiple activities and sports organized here as swimming and boat race etc. Rudrasagar lake witnesses around 50000 tourists from different states including Tripura and the number are rising every year. In the middle of the Rudrasagar lake, there is a fairytale-like palace called Neermahal which means water palace. This palace was built by Maharaja Bir-Bikram Kishore Manikya in 1930 for his summer vacations. With a fort like look it appears as it is floating in the lake and in the night when the lights of the palace are switched on the sight of the palace and the reflection of the lights and palace in the lake is just speechless.
