Saheliyon ki Bari, Rajasthan

Saheliyon ki Bari is located in Udaipur, in the state of Rajasthan and is considered as one of the famous tourist destination sites in Udaipur. The word Saheliyonki Bari is a Hindi word which means the Garden or a Courtyard of the Maidens. This courtyard was built in the year 1710 for the ladies of the royal family and was constructed by Maharana Sangram Singh.

This Courtyard was given as a gift by Maharana Sangram Singh to his Queen and he himself designed the garden. Marble based fountains, elephant sculptures and other sculptures were made along with a lotus pool. The Saheliyon ki Bari consists of various types of fountain, ponds or pools across the garden where you can enjoy the greenery and relax at the same time.

The Saheliyon ki Bari was built especially for the 48 maids who accompanied the queen during her marriage with the King so that the maidens and the Queen would be able to relax and enjoy nature (away from the politics and violence in the palace court). Even during their leisure time, the queens and her maidens would visit the garden and would stroll across the garden. A small museum was also created later to portray the designs sculpture and paintings of the royal family. The Saheliyon ki Bari is located beside the Fateh Sagar Lake in the northern sector of the city, where you can enjoy both dry-lands and greenery of nature at the same time.
