Shri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, Gollalamamidada, Andhra Pradesh

The Shri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, the other Sun temple apart from Arasavalli Sun Temple in the state, was ground in by the zamindar of the Gollala Mamidada Village namely Shri Kovvuri Basivi Reddy in the year 1920. Shri Kovvuri dedicated his life for the welfare of mankind and society. The temple is a marvellous example of his love for his people. The temple is placed across 16 acres of grass field in a splendid piece of natural beauty near the banks of River Antharvahini and surrounded by coconut palms. The Sun God is worshiped in the Vishnuroopam avatar. The idol is well decorated and is sure to excite the aesthetic sense of the art lovers. The Dravidian styled temple is 160 feet high with 5 kalsams and 9 stories. The walls at the entrance of the temple are intricately carved with paintings depicting surya namaskaras. Portrait of various Gods and Goddess are illustrated with exotic colours and dyes all over the exterior temple wall.

Abhishek of the diety is carried out in accordance with the rituals of the shastras. Rituals in the temple are performed in line with the Shri Vyshanava Samradaya. Millions of devotees visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Siddhi Vinayaka, who is celebrated as a Wish Granter. An idol of Ganapathi located amidst the green fields in the coconut garden is admired by all. The Shri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple is popular for hosting the Radha Saptami and Bhishma Ekadashi festival.
