St. Cajetan Church, Goa

St. Cajetan church is one of the most sought after tourist attractions of Goa which lies about half a kilometre to the northeast of St Cathedral and near the remains of Viceregal Palace. St. Cajetan is one the important landmark of Panjim city of Goa and amongst the most respected shrines of India other than being one of the main tourist attractions of Goa.

This church is a beautiful piece of architecture which nearly resembles the design of church Basilica of St.Peter of Rome and is built by laterite blocks which are lime plastered. The church is consistent with six alters with twisted shafts with the figures of angles among which one is dedicated to the lady of divine providence. Its interiors have many wooden statues of various famous Christian saints and you can also find many sculptures and paintings which tell the story of the life of St. Cajetan.

As you enter the St. Cajetan’s church you will find three altars on the left side which are dedicated to the holy family, the St Clare and Lady of Peity and on the right side, the altars are dedicated to St. Cajetan and St. John. St. Cajetan is well situated in the city of Panjim and is easily accessible for the tourists visiting Goa and its timings are 9 am to 12 pm in the morning and 4 pm to 7 pm in the evening. The St. Cajetan church is certainly an architectural marvel created by wonderful architects of ancient times. This is a must visit place in Goa where you can find great peace and tranquillity.
