Suryanarayana Temple, Arasavalli, Andhra Pradesh

The Arasavalli Suryanarayana Temple is one of the famous sun god temples in India. This temple is however not in the city center. It is located almost 1 kilometer away from the Srikakulam city, in a small village named Arasavalli. This temple is built by Devendra Verma who was the ruler of Kalinga kingdom in the 7th Century. However, the installation of the sun god was done by Kasyapa.

The Suryanarayana temple receives donations from many organizations for the maintenance and beautification of this temple. The construction of this temple is done in such a way that the the ray of the sun falls directly on the feet of the idol. It is believed that if you perform Suryanamaskar in this temple, then you will be blessed with long life and good health.

In this temple, there are certain rules that one must follow while worshiping. It is said that no one should sit in front of the god and worship. Also, one must not close their eyes. It is advisable to read the board of instructions before entering the place. Sunday is considered to be the most prosperous day to visit the Suryanarayana temple. There are restroom and lockers where you have to keep your shoes and belongings before entering.

As this temple is located in one of the busiest cities, hence the roads are well connected and commute is very easy. You can go there by your own car. Parking is a little far from the Suryanarayana temple, however, the parking space is ample. On rail, the nearest railway station is Srikakulam railway station and the nearest airport is Vishakhapatnam.

Suryanarayana Temple open at 06:00 AM to 12:30 PM and then from 03:30 PM to 08:00 PM
