Sweet Falls, Meghalaya

Sweet falls is the 'most beautiful' yet 'most dangerous' waterfalls in nearby of Shillong, Meghalaya. It is considered a dangerous beauty due to the height of the waterfall which is 315ft, and the waterfall is surrounded with slippery stone and the route to the waterfall is not maintained properly which might not seem exactly and precisely pleasant to any traveller. Sweet waterfall is located 5 km away from a valley called Happy Valley.

When compared to other waterfalls in the state of Meghalaya, Sweet Falls of East Khasi Hills District is the only waterfalls which does not face any hurdles or breaks in between the top and bottom of the waterfall. The force of water and the way the water falls downward; Sweet Falls seems like a large drainage system or a water pump exerting water from its system. Hence no one can stand, sit or pass through the bottom of the waterfall. Sweet Falls is considered as the local picnic spot by people from the state and by the tourists as the waterfall is surrounded by great beauty and by a variety of flora and fauna. Variety of brightly coloured trees and flowers makes a peaceful environment across the area and the sound of the nature helps one to destress themselves in this trip.
