The lakes & forts are the highlights of the kingly state of Rajasthan and the Balsamand Lake is there in that list. The Balsamand Lake is one of the most beautiful and clean lakes in the whole desert state. The Balsamand Lake is in the Jodhpur region. This lake is very large and is surrounded by a hilly terrain scattered with arid yet dense vegetation. Many of the tours under Jodhpur tourism banner are incomplete without a visit to this serene lake view. Apart from this the Balsamand Lake Palace adjacent to the lake is a true ethnic marvel.
The historical importance of this lake is also very deep in the flourishing of the Rajput Dynasty. In the 13th century CE this region was reigned over by the Gurjara Pratihara tribe. It was due to the water need of the common people that the then king of the realm built this artificial lake to fulfill this purpose. Mesmerized on seeing the exquisite scenic beauty of the lake, the heavenly ambience and the naturally guarded terrain of this place, the clan decided to make it their capital and thus built the Balsamand Lake Palace by the lake.
The Balsamand Lake along with Palace is one of the greatest sightseeing spot on Jodhpur Travels. Situated on the Jodhpur Mandore road, this lake is a very easy reach for the travelers. The well-manicured gardens of this place, the groves of variant fruits like mango, guava, plum and pomegranate and the sightings of various birds & animals, makes this place very alluring. You get to enjoy photography, horse riding, the palatial heritage tour and many other interesting activities here.
