The historical importance of this lake is also very deep in the flourishing of the Rajput Dynasty. In the 13th century CE this region was reigned over by the Gurjara Pratihara tribe. It was due to the water need of the common people that the then king of the realm built this artificial lake to fulfill this purpose. Mesmerized on seeing the exquisite scenic beauty of the lake, the heavenly ambience and the naturally guarded terrain of this place, the clan decided to make it their capital and thus built the Balsamand Lake Palace by the lake.
The Balsamand Lake along with Palace is one of the greatest sightseeing spot on Jodhpur Travels. Situated on the Jodhpur Mandore road, this lake is a very easy reach for the travelers. The well-manicured gardens of this place, the groves of variant fruits like mango, guava, plum and pomegranate and the sightings of various birds & animals, makes this place very alluring.
