Mendri Ghumar, Chhattisgarh

Located 24 kilometers from the Jagdalpur town of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh, India, the 70 meters high Mendri Ghumar is a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall surrounded by natural beauty. During summer, the waterfall flows in a calm manner but monsoons make the waterfall fierce and noisy.

The surrounding lush green forest and natural environment makes it a perfect spot for picnicking as well as a great ecotourism destination. The flat plateau on the top of the hill ends abruptly leading the waterfall to disappear into the deep green forest, creating a beautiful view. There is also an arc that is created by the years of action of fiercely flowing waters.

There is an amazing transformation before the water hits the rocks at the bottom of the Mendri Ghumar waterfall. It gains a sudden momentum at this point and creates a Cascade which is quite a spectacular view.

The atmosphere can make one get lost and charmed by it and also enjoy some time disconnected from the rest of the world. The way to the waterfall is also spectacular, and one needs a trek and a long walk amidst paddy fields and meadows to reach it. A distinct echo of the waterfall can be heard from a long time before it appears in sight. The journey towards it is indeed thrilling. So, when one is in Bastar, this beautiful waterfall must not be missed at any cost.
