Ramnagar Fort, Uttar Pradesh

Ramnagar Fort which is at a distance of 14 km from the city, is a fine work of art with its intricate artwork and enchanting beauty, which makes it one of the most visited tourist attractions in Varanasi city, also known as Kashi. Ramnagar Fort was built in the 1750 with cream color sandstone and contains many monuments and temples to watch and explore for visitors. There are carved balconies, big open courtyards, Durbar hall and pavilions which attracts the visitor’s attraction; however, the private residential area of the king is a restricted area.

There is also a museum in Ramnagar Fort which is also known as Saraswati Bhawan which includes a very rare collection of old guns, vintage cars, and medieval costumes. This museum is also famous for its collection of some of the finest artwork of ivory, gold and silver work which is so mesmerizing that you could not take your eyes off from those ornaments. You can also find some rare and interesting books including manuscripts and some Mughals miniature books. Here you will find a rare and amazing astronomical clock which shows time, day month and even the position of sun, moon and other planets. This astronomical clock was built by an astronomer in the court of Varanasi king in the 19th century. The best time to visit Ramnagar Fort is in the month of October or during Dussehra festival as this time there are a lot of activities and performances happens which are a treat to watch and during monsoon, you will have to take a boat to reach the Fort, which is available from Dashashwamedh Ghat.
