The Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a huge statue of Lord Shiva in the lake front of the temple. The Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple holds many myths and legends which makes it a really important place by the religious aspect. The temple is located in the district of Kurukshetra of Haryana, India.

This is the temple where it is said that the Pandavas had come here with Lord Krishna to seek the blessings of the Lord before starting the famous Mahabharata war. This was also supposedly the place where Shri Tegh Bahadur had stayed for some specific time. This also is the reason why there is a gurudwara near the temple. It is also said that this was the temple where Lord Brahma had first established the Shiv Linga and started its worship.

Another myth is that the water of the pond in front of the Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple has some magical qualities. They say that the water can even cure diseases like leprosy. Hence, if you visit Kurukshetra ever, this temple has to be in the list. The festivals of Shivratri and Shankranti and such are celebrated in this temple with huge grandeur and reverence. One of the interesting features of the temple is that afternoon meal is served free to anyone who visits the temple irrespective of the caste and religion. It also provides free meal to patients of the nearby hospitals.
