Nothing gives more profound knowledge than the songs of the God, the Bhagavad Gita, according to Hindu Mythology. History also stated and proved that the world`s largest written document, The Hindu Epic Mahabharata, is an enriched mine of every aspect of philosophy, polity and wisdom, that is the nature of being. This place called Kurukshetra is believed to be that place where the Holy War between Pandavas & Kauravas was raged and Lord Sri Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Warrior Arjuna, the sacred ground where the climax of Mahabharata was staged.

Archeologically it is also proved that the city of Kurukshetra was in the existence since before the chronicles of Mahajanapadas and the proof being its reverence as Holy Place or Dhramakshetra by Ashoka the Great of ancient India and King Harshavardhan of medieval India. Many foreign historical travellers such as Hieun Tsang have visited this ancient city from time to time to get a grasp on the vast Hindu culture of India.

Vamana Puranas state that after the death of river Saraswati in around 1800 BC a certain King Kuru settled down his kingdom here, thus is the name Kurukshetra or Region of Kuru. The city is located in the District of Kurukshetra, previously Thaneswar Tehsil, in the Indian State of Haryana. The new city is located on the road side of NH 2 and is considered to be one of the holiest cities in India where soul gets redemption. There are many notable tourist destinations in and around the city of Kurukshetra namely Sthanesware Temple of Lord Mahadev, Bhadrakali Temple, Phalgu Tirtha, Sannihit Sarovar, Bhishma Kund, The place of Bhagavad Gita - Jyotisar, Brahmo Sarovar, Krishna museum and many more.

The city of Kurukshetra is a great tourist attraction for all across India and all over the world also. There are a many hotels, lodges and restaurants present in the city in all ranges. The destination is located on NH 2 160 KM away from Delhi and 80 KM away from Chandigarh which happens to be the nearest airports also. To travel by road is the most obvious choice and there is Kurukshetra railway Junction also to travel to the holy city by rail.
