Navagraha Plants

The words NAVA mean Nine, GRAHA mean Planets, and VANA mean Garden. Life on earth is believed to be affected by the cosmic energies of the Navagraha or nine planets.

According to Hindu tradition, Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Raahu & Ketu are the nine grahas. There are nine plants in the Navagraha Vana - trees, shrubs. We need to plant the grass in the proper direction in each plant. In the universe, the grahas are responsible for maintaining overall equilibrium. These grahas have their energy qualities and are said to affect each of us throughout our lives.

Every plant is specially chosen to influence your energy field. The Vedas explain that there are Pavitra Vrikshalu plants at Pragati such as the Nakshatra Vrikshalu, the Rashi Vrikshalu, Navagraha Vrikshalu, Panchbhoota Vrikshalu, and Parijata Vrikshalu, etc. to accomplish the desired effects.

These trees and medicinal plants that have been preserved in our sacred vanams at Pragati, along with other rare Mother plants are part of our ancient Prana Pradaatalu and Arogya Pradaatalu. Through aromatherapy, these herbs remove toxins and refresh the body. Consequently, Pragati has become a mosquito-free, bacteria-free, virus-free environment. An area of the brain called the limbic system is believed to transmit emotions and retrieve memories.

Achyranthes Aspera Plant

Planet Plant for (Budha / Mercury) : Achyranthes aspera is a highly useful plant which is grown in many countries. It is commonly known as rough collinsia or sea purslane. This plant is cultivated in India and China to produce astringent, antiseptic and antipyretic agents.

Ficus Racemosa - Gular Tree

Planet Plant for (Sukra / Venus) : Ficus racemosa, the cluster fig, purple river fig or gular, is a species of plant within the family Moraceae. It is native to Australia and tropical Asia. It is a quick-growing plant with large, very tough leaves, generally attaining the scale of a massive shrub, although older specimens can develop quite large and gnarled.

Butea Monosperma

Planet Plant for (Moon / Chandra / Soma) : Butea monosperm is a plant that is used in Ayurvedic medicine and in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine. The seeds of the butea are used in cooking. They are also used to make medicines, including those for cough, cold, and fever.

Ficus Religiosa - Peepal Tree

Planet Plant for (Guru / Jupiter) : Ficus religiosa is a species of fig that is widely venerated as the Sacred Fig, sacred to the religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and ancient Greece. Several other species are also called banyan or "Ficus" trees.

Acacia Catechu

Planet Plant for (Kuja / Mangala / Mars) : Acacia Catechu is a tree which grows in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The leaves, bark, gum and wood of Acacia catechu are used for various purposes in humans. The plant is known by different names depending on the region and purpose. Calotropis Procera Plant

Planet Plant for (Kethu) : Imperata cylindrica is a species of grass native to Australia and South America. It has been introduced to more than 60 countries as a barrier plant for windbreaks and as cattle feed. It is also used in horticulture as an ornamental grass and for erosion control.

Prosopis Cineraria

Planet Plant for (Shani / Saturn) : Prosopis cenneraria also known as Mesquite is distributed in and around the India, Sonoran Desert in Mexico and the Southwestern United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. Mesquite has been introduced to many regions outside its native range, including into Australia and Africa.

Cynodon Dactylon

Planet Plant for (Rahu) : Cynodon dactylon grass originated in tropical and subtropical Asia, and it can now be found across the world, growing in all types of soil. Cynodon dactylon grass is most often used for lawns and golf courses. The density of the grass makes it ideal for these purposes because it can withstand the wear that comes with use.
