Almora Tourism

Providing a panoramic view of the Himalayan range, Almora is a cantonment town of Uttarakhand. Located 1,638 metres above sea level, this hill station is a nice holiday destination owing to its picturesque landscape and green surroundings. Situated atop the Kashyap Hill, this town is popular among tourists and trekkers as the surrounding terrain is covered by coniferous forests found on the foothills of Himalayas. This hub is famous across the region for its vibrant culture, delicious food and beautiful handicraft industry. It is well connected via National Highways and is at a distance of just 363 kilometres from New Delhi.

Aside from holiday seekers, many devotees arrive here to visit different temples Chitai Golu Devta, Nanda Devi, Jageshwar and Katarmal. As the town is one of the busiest in the Kumaon region, it has various large markets here. Some like the Lala Bazaar have been here for two centuries and are famous for their local, unique products like the Almora copper vessels and Angora clothes made from the skin of Angora rabbits. Tourists here get to experience many physical activities like cycling or walking through the nearby forests. One can also participate in adventure activities like rock climbing, crossing the Burma Bridge or climbing up spider webs in the Kosi valley retreat.
