Belgaum District, also known as Belgaon, has one of the smart cities in India that is well known for its delicacy and history. The city is located in the Indian State of Karnataka and is popular for its well developed city scape, good standard of living and its tourism. The history of Belgaum is what attracts the people to this city. The city was established during the Rattadynasty reign. Over the years its helm changed hands quite a few times and for which visitor can observe a varied cultural infusion in the architectures & lifestyle of this place. From time to time the city came under the rule of Vijayanagar Empire, Bijapur Sultanate, Mughals Marathas, Mysore Sultanate and the British Sovereign.

There are lots to see in Belgaum. The memorial statue of Rani Chennamma of Kittur, the Kapileshwar Temple, the Mahadev Temple in the military base, the historic carvings on the Kamal Basti Jain Temple and the natural beauty of the fortress of Rajhans Gad Yellur. Belgaum is the largest sugar producing region of Karanataka and is famous for its milk & spice sweetmeat called Kunda. Being an important city you can travel to other Karnataka cities like Mysore, Mangalore, Bengaluru, Hubli, Bijapur and Gulbarga quite easily.
