The state of Karnataka, located in the south western region of the country came into existence on 1st November 1956. Previously the state was known as the State of Mysore before it was renamed as Karnataka in the year 1973. Karnataka happens to be the sixth largest state of India. The fascinating city of Bangalore (present day Bengaluru), also known as the Garden City; is the capital of the state of Karnataka.
