The state of Karnataka, located in the south western region of the country came into existence on 1st November 1956. Previously the state was known as the State of Mysore before it was renamed as Karnataka in the year 1973. Karnataka happens to be the sixth largest state of India. The fascinating city of Bangalore (present day Bengaluru), also known as the Garden City; is the capital of the state of Karnataka. Karnataka is a great place to visit for travellers and tourists for a manifold of reasons. Although the state of Karnataka doesn’t possess a long coastline, still it has got some of the most stupendous and amazingly beautiful beaches in India like Malpe, Mangalore, Gokarna, Ullal, etc.

There are 3 UNESCO world heritage sites in Karnataka - Hampi, Pattadakal and the Western Ghats. The state has a wonderful mix of national parks, massive palaces, ancient ruins and last but certainly not the least renowned hang-outs. Some of the must-visit places for any tourist in Karnataka are Mysuru Palace (previously Mysore Palace), Virupaksha Temple, National Gallery of Modern Art, Bidar Fort, Golgumbaz, etc. The state of Karnataka has a lot to offer for the tourists and the vast variety it brings to the table would ensure that it is not at all a monotonous trip for anyone visiting whatsoever. Karnataka is well connected with a network of good roads, railways and flights.
