Gandhinagar Tourism

Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat, India. Since Gujarat is the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, the government of Gujarat is trying to make Gandhinagar into a city purely based on Indian enterprise. Gandhinagar is the home of Akshardham Temple. This temple is famous for its history and it was built as a tribute to Lord Swaminarayan and his teachings. It took over 13 years to complete this temple and there are other Akshardham temples in different cities like Noida and others. This temple was built from Pink sandstone which is only available in Rajasthan, and the exhibitions, halls and the auditorium explains the teachings of Lord Swaminarayan to the tourists; shows and performances are also organised in the venue.

Akshardham also supports researchers with their course offers like Akshardham Centre for Applied Research in Social Harmony, social harmony being one of the main teachings of Lord Swaminarayan. Sahajanand Van is another tourist site inside Akshardham temple, it has a nursery, garden and rocks in different formations for families to have a pleasant time and enjoy nature. Apart from Akshardham temple Gandhinagar is also known for Trimandir Simandhar city. It is a temple with museum where families can enjoy spiritual activities along with the architecture of the temple. Indroda Nature Park, DandiKutir, SaritaUdhyan are other tourist attraction sites in the city.
