Nashik Tourism
Nashik is an ancient holy city which is a main pilgrimage city of Maharashtra is situated on the bank of Godavari River. It is the home for a Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva called as Trambakeshwar. It is believed that at the Brahm kund at Trambakeshwar, some drops of Amrit fell from the pot which Lord Brahma had while traveling. It makes a popular travel destination for religious people. The places of interest are Pandav Leni caves which is a Buddhist site, the statue of ahimsa which is a Jain idol, and numerous forts and temples. They visit kumb mela that is held in Nashik once every 12 years. Even the land of Nashik has tapovan where Lord Rama, Laxmana, and Sita spent the term period of 14 years of exile. Day excursions are organized for Shirdi sai baba temple and Someshwar temple which are some kilometers away from Nashik.
Nashik is popular for oranges. People of traditional, conservative as well as modern mindset live in the bustling city of Nashik. Nashik is a growing industrial city that has more than 10,000 factories. For the bird lovers, a bird sanctuary called Nandur Madhmeshwar is there which has about 220 species of birds. It has more than 1400 vegetation species also.
